| 1991-1995 | BMW | Euro M3 (E36) | H1 | ZKW projector | 5 | Besides somewhat higher than OEM right flange, pretty close to OEM HID.
Be aware that low beam unit found inside these ZKW headlamps are of the first generation
projector units. They were developed in 1988-1990. They are do not have Free Form reflector. To gain
even better output, retrofit projector with OEM HID unit from a newer BMW. See OEM HID DB
for more info.

| 2001 | Caddilac | STS | 9006 | projector | 3 | 6000k HID kit has been tried. Color is neat, but they suck to drive behind, especially in the rain. 4100k gives better ligth, but they are almost as yellow as factoy halogens bulbs. Making a shield to cover up yellow was tried, but owner just could not seem to get that right. OEM HID headlamps is a direct bolt on. Result is way better than a 9006 HID kit. | ||

Just slapping in a H7 kit has been reported giving too much yellow/orange light.
This projector unit is probably a high performance projector unit with FF
(Free Form) reflector design, that utilizes alot of downwards directed light
from Halogen bulb. Another result of this is that projector unit is
sensitive to return wire shadow (see headlamp faq for unfamiliar terms)
Solution: Light going downwards from HID bulb must be blocked.
See
HID Retrofit troubleshooting
under the H4 section for more info.
There are 2 holes in projector shield to lit up overhead signs - will look like 2 UFOs! Holes must be covered with a piece of dark tinted glass or totally covered up with ie. a piece of alu to reduce glare. H7 HID bulb is not a direct plug in. Toyota uses "spacer" between H7 bulb and clip. However a replacement "spacer" can be bought from dealer and dremeled out to fit a H7 HID bulb rear end, so that Toyota clip are able to retain bulb. This way the HID install is reversable if desired. An unconfirmed install process are described/pictured on this Celica Forum (Offsite link) |
